Indian Food in Philadelphia
I was recently in Philadelphia for a day and I stayed at a hotel in the University City district. The receptionist at the Sheraton pointed out two fantastic Indian food restaurants: Desi Chaat House ( Mild & Wild) and Sitar. Sitar is similar to many other indian food restaraunts in the DC metro area with the exception that it served South Indian food instead of North. The difference is quite noticable. The food was great, just different. Desi Chaat House is a single room, fast food joint that serves another version of Indian food. It was slightly cooked vegetables mixed with spices and a creamy (but not oily) sauce. This mixture was eaten by itself or poured into a hard baked crust. If you find yourself in Philly and in need of something different to eat, these places are a great place to start.
